an unbuilt proposal for an interior renovation of an old seaport artist studio. our clients were a joint venture between a local furniture rep and lighting company, who shared stake in similar products and manufacturers.
this interior reno was designed to showcase the products repped by a local furniture dealer and lighting company, while simultaneously serving as their office space. the design team iterated various times, trying different variations of color, material, furniture and lighting selections to hone in on one cohesive theme while displaying the most prominent products.
i focused on the one major architectural addition to the space - the ‘chair wall’ - a built-in furniture display integrated into the depth of the kitchenette. this moment was vital for the furniture vendor, who wanted one aspect of the traditional showroom to remain present in an otherwise open-plan workstation / lounge program. central to the plan is the kitchenette and built in banquette. this was a request by both clients, who often host events for their own networks. the design team integrated planters to provide a low-scale screen to help delinate between social scope and business.
